Werribee Gorge Circuit Walk

This circuit walk has some steep sections and some rock scrambling is required along the track near the river where 50m of it has cable handhelds for assistance. The upper reaches of the track have great views of the gorge.

GRADE | LENGTH | TYPE: Moderate/difficult 10 km, approximately 4.5 hour circuit walk.
MEETING TIME | LOCATION: 10am at Meikles Point Picnic Area, Inglston.

DISTANCE | TIME FROM GPO: about 70 to 75km depending on the route, allow 1 hour 30 minutes by car.
FOOD: Carry lunch, snacks and at least 2 litres of water.
APPAREL | FOOTWEAR: Comfortable sturdy walking boots/shoes and dress according to the weather forecast.
ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION: We start at Meikles Point Picnic Area and take the track to Quarry Picnic Area where we begin a steady climb to the beginning of the Centenary Track where we vere west to stay on the Circuit Track. We pass various lookout points before descending steeply into the gorge. Along the river the track takes us across some rocky sections. We scramble over these and cable handhelds assists us for a part of it. At Lionhead Beach there is a chance to have a dip for those who want to. From here we return to Meikles Point Picnic Area.
