Join The Nomads at Chillout for a morning walk through the forest trees and along a picturesque creek near Daylesford.

GRADE | LENGTH | TYPE: Choice of two circuit walks. Easy 4.5 km walk or Hard 7.0 km walk with some challenging off-track hills to climb and descend.

ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION: The easy walk will be done at a relaxed pace, though it does have a couple of short hills to ascend and descend. The harder walk requires a reasonable level of fitness. It will move at a faster pace and has some challenging hills to climb and descend. With a bit of luck we may be able to get to the old Mistletoe Gold Mine site. Both walks will stop for a 15 minute break in the forest. A good chance to make new friends. Bring face mask, hand sanitiser, water, hat, apply sunscreen and wear closed shoes, not sandals.

The ChillOut weekend consists of a number of Nomads events. If you are not a Nomads member but plan to attend more than one Nomads ChillOut Weekend activity, to avoid paying multiple visitor fees we suggest you take out a Temporary 1 month Membership (cost $8) prior to booking. FURTHER INFORMATION: This event is part of the Labour Day Long Weekend – ChillOut Camping event, with associated activities:

MEETING TIME | LOCATION: 10am at the Tipperary Springs Picnic Area at the end of Tipperary Springs Rd Daylesford. It is 2.5 km and 5 minutes drive from the Daylesford Town Hall. Both walks will start and finish at this point.

DISTANCE | TIME FROM GPO: 116 km, approximately 1 hour 30 minutes to drive. 

PUBLIC TRANSPORT: It is 2 hours 45 minutes by public transport to Daylesford, but you would need to arrive in Daylesford the night before in order to get to the start of the walk in time. From central Daylesford you would need to walk 2.5 km to the start of the walk or catch a taxi. The shuttle bus will be operating again this year, running every 40 minutes between Jubilee Lake, central Daylesford and Hepburn Springs, though it’s no longer free - a weekend bus pass costs $20. Daylesford has quite a good taxi service (03 5348 1111) but no Ubers. If you need a lift to Daylesford, we suggest you contact a Nomads leader a few days before the event to see if we can arrange that for you.

COST: $10 for visitors and free for Nomads Members.

APPAREL | FOOTWEAR: Comfortable closed shoes/walking boots, hat, dark glasses, apply sunscreen before the walk. Dress according to the weather forecast. Don't forget a face mask and hand sanitiser.

FOOD AND DRINKS: Bring drinking water and snacks for the morning break stop. Snacks of a muesli bar etc. and a piece of fruit will be given out to each walker at the start of the walk.

This is a paid visitor ticket for non-members, including Meetup members. On check-out you will be asked to provide some basic safety information. Non-members can join the club by clicking on "ANY Membership Required".

WAIVER: By purchasing this ticket, I agree to the following:

  1. I declare that I am at least 18 years of age.
  2. I undertake to observe the Rules and By-Laws of the Nomads Outdoors Group Inc. (the Association) in force at any time.

In voluntarily participating in an activity of the Association, I acknowledge that this activity may expose me to risks that could lead to my injury, illness, death or to loss of or damage to my property.   4. I acknowledge that I will take responsibility for my own actions while participating in any activity of the Association.
  5. I agree that no refund is available if I cancel my booking less than 24 hours prior to the event. However, if I cancel at any time due to COVID-19, or the event is cancelled by the leader, a refund will be provided.
