Ramble - Eltham to Heidelberg and optionally beyond

A very pleasant walk from Eltham Station to Heidelberg through semi-urban and parklands on Diamond Creek and Yarra River tracks, taking in the birds and any wildlife, and lovely vistas respresented in the paintings of the Heidleberg School between the 1880s and 1930s.

GRADE | LENGTH | TYPE: Medium approximately 17 km, point-to-point walk, mostly on off-road paths, with some short steep sections. 

ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION: From Heidelberg, you will have the option of continuing on to Alphington Station along the Yarra and Darebin Creek Park tracks (a further distance of approximately 8 km).

MEETING TIME | LOCATION: 10:30am adjacent to the cafe at Eltham Station (Platform 3095 Cafe) for a quick takeway coffee option, with departure from there at 10.30am.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT: The Hurstbridge line train that departs from Flinders Street at 9.18am arrives in Eltham at 10.21am. For the return from Heidelberg, Hurstbridge line trains head towards the City every 20/30mins.

FOOD: Bring BYO lunch, hot soup in a thermos, owing to cooler time of year, an ideal option. 

APPAREL | FOOTWEAR: Dress appropriately to weather with wet weather gear and plenty of layers to put-on/take-off.
