Pub lunch and easy walk around Lilydale Lake.
GRADE | LENGTH | TYPE: Relaxing pub lunch and easy 5 km walk to and around Lilydale Lake (graded according to the Leaders Guide - Appendix A: Activity Grading Guidelines).
ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION: An easily accessible walk by either train or car. Once the train from Flinders Street arrives, we will walk to the historic Olinda Creek Hotel (1860) for a pub lunch in the Bistro.
After a relaxing lunch, we'll take an easy walk beside the Olinda Creek to Lilydale Lake along the Warburton to Carrum Trail. The lake walk includes historic sites relating to limestone mining in the Mitchell Family's 110 year old quarry.
A nearby shopping centre can provide a spot for afternoon drinks.

MEETING TIME | LOCATION: 11:55am at Lilydale Railway Station. We'll assemble underneath the station, beside the northern end of the Maroondah Highway pedestrian crossing. The walk will begin once the train from the city arrives - scheduled for 11:50am.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT: Public transport is extremely convenient for this event. Weekend Myki fares are capped at $7.20 full, $3.60 concession or free for Seniors. We will ride in the front carriage of the train.
- Outbound: The Lilydale line train that departs from Flinders Street platform 2 at 10:42am arrives at Lilydale at 11:50am.
- Return: Trains depart Lilydale towards Flinders Street every 20 minutes, at 2:19pm, 2:39pm, 2:59pm, 3:19pm, 3:39pm, 3:59pm etc.
FOOD: Lunch will be ordered at the Olinda Creek Hotel - see menu. There is also a $16 Seniors option.
APPAREL | FOOTWEAR: Comfortable walking boots/shoes and dress according to the weather forecast.
