Enjoy a leisurely picnic and explore one of Inner Melbourne's little known treasures, Hedgeley Dene Park, located in the traditional country of the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung People.
GRADE | LENGTH | TYPE: Grade 1: Easy - picnic and short walk around the linear parkland (graded according to the AWTGS: Australian Walking Tracks Grading System).
ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION: Tucked in a sought-after residential area, Hedgeley Dene Park is an asset of the City of Stonnington. Hedgeley Dene Gardens were formed along an early watercourse that was once part of Hedgeley Dene Farm. In 1911, the (then) Malvern Council purchased 8.5 acres of the farmland, using it first as a quarry for sand and clay and then as a rubbish tip. The present gardens were developed from 1924 recreating the qualities of an informal, picturesque English garden or northern European landscape including a lake with bridges plus raised garden beds.
NOTE: this is an uneven area plus has gravel based paths, thus "stilettos" or similar footwear are not suitable - LOL. The Park is dog friendly.
